So this is my first Samurai. I've read the two Hybrid Samurai guides out there that I could find. Both adivse that the first 5 points go to vit and and every other point should go to intel. So I've done this. I decided to go with swords and reuse my rogue melee scale armor. Also, I've decided on lightening for the charm. My problem is, even with an ee sword I can't kill sh**t and not enough mana yet to cast. So I understand that I probably can't cast until lvl 40 so I'm looking for advice and opinions on gear and how to stat up to lvl 40, from players who have built successful hybrids. So far I've got lvl 5 and 15 gear, looking for lvl 25 now. Thanks for your help.

What viet said.

I can't fully tell if you are making a Hybrid Melee or a Hybrid Caster, it would appear to be Caster. Either way, you need Heal Charms, your Tier III is NOT cutting it.

For a Hybrid Caster, just set yourself up with typical melee gear from level 1-35+, and either solo it or cata. Once you want to start casting, get +INT gear, and EE Charms. All points go into INT, even first 10, none needed in VIT.

For a Hybrid Melee, typical melee gear throughout. Stat INT until ~60-70, then depending on your gear, stat STR or DEX.

I am currently making a Hybrid Melee Fighter, so far all points have gone to INT, I am currently level 20, like you and I am getting MCC's of ~10 with average gear at this time.

Feel free to PM with any more questions.

They can be very good with the right gear. Don't put 5 into vit. 50 is enough. If you go melée hybrid( all melée but heal with charms) stat up to 70 int like they said and rest into strength or dex depending on the stats on your armor. If you need any further help feel free to pm me

I've been playing around with this setup for quite a few climbs now and will vouch the effectiveness of it. 70 int is a great base of int and provides for a great amount of mana to provide heals or accompanying heals in catas.

Just out of curiosity and to add to the info pool as well

What would be suggested for someone who has some INT on their MQ gear. Should they stat until 70 as well?

Example:

I have +11 INT on my MQ STR charm, should I stat until 59 INT and end up at 70 INT. Or stat INT until 70 and end up at 81 INT? My gear isn't SUPER, so I would end up at level 55 with 96 STR, 60 DEX, 70 INT, base VIT (WITH GEAR). Or I could go 96 STR, 50 DEX, 81 INT, base VIT (WITH GEAR). Rest of the points into DEX.
