Rather than give you a guide to read I'll just say.

Weapon = Any Kind you like and can use (Weapon type doesn't affect damage)
Armor = EE Plates or Str Or Dex Plates
Charms = Str Or Dex

Stats are always Dependant on your level 55 gear.

You want to reach at least 100 dex if you're just going to cata

Rest into Strength (This is with whatever gear you plan to use @ 55 ON)

Some people will put their first 10 points in vita..which isn't necessary but you can do so if you feel like it. (Gives a few hundred extra life in the long run over someone who doesn't but you'll do a bit less damage if you do it)

Some people will suggest a bit less dex others more.

Experiment between 90 and 120 for best results to your liking. (@ Level 55 w/ your level 55 gear on..once again to enforce my earlier advice)
