i thought it was +1 starting stat point untill you cap at 20
but i pass mq and lost a point!

someone please explain how unused starting stats work?

It is +1 per MQ, but as you pass to new classes those earned points get divided. Otherwise everyone would always have +20 once they made any progress with the game.
