Ok, Im mage all int, atm my focused is 160-192.

I have it in 2nd Slot and in 1st i keep at 24% HM charm

I hear that there is a -25% penalty for acc slot, then there is no reason to use a HM charm unless its >25% or?

Let me rephrase this, there is a -25% penalty for heals, but it also uses 25% less mana too. So even if you have a 5% HM charm in the primary slot, you will still be better off than having your heal in the primary slot.

Also, if your HM charm is > 33% you will actually be healing for more :)

It also costs less mana (I can't remember what %) to cast a heal from the secondary slot.

meaning it balances out to some extent then if you equip a HM charm in your primary to make up for the negative effect of less healing than using primary you gain the advantage of less mana cost for the same strength or better heals. (If your HM charm is > 25% You're actually healing better than if it were in your primary for less mana)

Hence why you should keep it in your secondary.

Also because your secondary slot provides no other purpose.

For example I own a lvl 55 +42% HM charm I use when above level 55.

It is possible to get up to 60% I believe I've seen on some items HM on a level 55 item as well..meaning you would gain +35% healing ability by using a charm of say that magnitude..while also being able to heal more times.

/E: Of course assuming tman is correct you'd have to adjust my figures down some due to it being a 33% reduction.

Accessory charms now operate at 75% effectiveness instead of 50%

I found this in the section where paul posted updates of things he updates on LS

According to that your first assumption of a 25% reduction is correct and tman's 33% reduction is incorrect..unless I managed to miss an update where paul dropped the effectiveness to 66%

1.25 * .75 = .9375
1.33 * .75 = 1

i was stating that your HM charm would have to be greater than 33% to actually give you more AVG heals than you would if you were using your heal in the primary slot

Ah, thanks alot mates, clear things up.

I knew about the efficiency penatly but wasn't sure about the mana cost :)

Thanks so much for being helpful to an old Diablo ll player :P
