from what i have seen in my limited career on LS magis are low life big mana chars

wondering if this is just a build bad kids use or if its actually preferred

other than that, just iso info a young magi would need to know

It's not a bad build, generally mages are able to keep themselves/ their party alive, which doesn't require a mass amount of life.
I generally do all int on a mage for climbing, unless you do welling or solo.

Mages are probabaly my second favorite class in the game next to Warlock. To start out with you'll want an EE staff or dagger to take you to lvl 10-15 in the arena and from then on you'll want to cast/heal.

You can either solo in the arena by casting or heal in cata groups.

Casting: (arena)

When casting look for items with as much int as you can afford for that tier and attack/heal charms with as much enhanced effect as you can afford also.

Healing: (catas)

Look for weapon/robe/charm with heal mastery and place a charm with enhanced effect in your acc. slot.
