Im just wondering how many monsters my character should be killing in a row..

A chain of 5 is not bad at level 25 with your equipment but if you got some +intelligence on your robe you'd do a lot better.

Mages are not able to get the full chains that Hybrid Melee's are capable of.

With a little above average gear, my Mage gets about 6 chains at the higher levels.

As Cylon said though, get a robe with some INT on it.
