Mage/warlock

It will be cheaper, effective for more levels and easier to come by the gear.

Paladins require a lot better gear to have the same success rates, though the added defense does help if you are looking to spend a lot for the very best.

i would say paladin for hardcore
warlock or mage has a better chance of death

I ask because I just got my pali and am strongly considering making him melee up to a decent level and then going caster and welling with him (all stats into int). But really a mage is a feeder class and if its way better than a pali then why bother right?
