I was wondering, what do you guys think is the best char to start off with.
Im thinking hardcore :S.

i wouldnt start hc

start with a barb

put all stats in dext
get the highest EE weapon possible
get the highest EE armor possible (heavy armor)
get the most stats on your charm possible

once upon a time that may have been a good choice. Only get about ~120 dex due to diminishing returns.

id recommend using 75 dex / rest into str / put 10-15 into vita /

gear:

ee axes

ee plate/chain

str/dex charm

This. I've also found that 90/100 vita works pretty nicely, specially in catas.
