Sorry if I misunderstood, but just to make sure, are you thinking of Diablo II or Ladder Slasher?
As far as I know, there's no such thing as a Heavy Thunder Hammer in LS, but there might be in D2.

Ah you're talking about Heavy Weapons. They're pretty expensive because they're rare, so I wouldn't suggest using them.

If you want cheap, I'd go clubs. They crit well and are somewhat consistent.

finding a good set of warhammers is not easy, plus they are expensive. This is more of a collectors thing IMO.

I'd look for some swords.

When you have 0 fg, you pick up whatever weapon you can find and use.
And try to put all stats into strength, + get chain/plate with strength and a charm with strength

This, although if you go with swords or clubs your going to need 110-120 or 100-110 dex respectively. With axes you can go pure str if you want.
