Your gear is reasonable given your fg amount. You could try to get a higher level plate mail since the one you're using is level 15 (Even a plain level 35 plate would have more defense than your current)
Otherwise, just try to get a higher EE weapon or a charm with more stats on it.
It'd probably help if on your next climb you used some dexterity as well. That will increase your critical strikes while also giving you defense from monster's crits.
The pure strength build is a last resort as far as I'm concerned. If you can get to like 100+str//80+ dext with level 55 gear on that'd be a better option.
