Hi, I am having a few problems with glyphing and was wondering if anyone had some insight.

Here is a mapping of the XP gains I've found from glyphing so far at 0 proficiency!
0 Proficiency:
TIER 1 ITEMS: Magic-5XP, Rare-5XP, Mystical-10XP, Angelic-10XP, Mythical-10XP, Arcane-(failed), Godly-(failed)

Here are the problems I'm having.
1. As the prefix of item gets higher within the same tier, the glyphing process gets harder and harder until it's almost undoable (I failed on the only arcane and godly I tried), even though it still says the difficulty is 'average'.
2. If I try a tier 2 item, it says the difficulty is 'hard'. I have never once glyphed a hard item. The highest I've gotten is about 55% of the way.
3. At 1 proficiency, the Magic and Rare T1's stop giving XP. The Mystical and ups still give 10XP.
4. At 1 proficiency, the tier 2 items are still marked as 'hard' difficulty, and I still haven't managed to glyph a single one.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I tried rerolling Magician to see if it depended on Int (it doesn't), so I don't know what to do! Is there actually a way to succeed in a 'hard' glyph? Am I just expected to grind 200 mystical+ tier 1 items to get to the next proficiency?

No. Just stick with the correct stats for your proficiency level. Refer to this chart to know what to glyph most easily and stick with that until you get to higher proficiency levels:

Wow, I have never seen more than 2 items above Mythical so I will never get above 2 proficiency then! Bummer
