It depends if you want high crits (sword), or the consitent damage of the axe.

For axe, I like to go all str to keep a nice consistency of damage going.
For swords, you want ~ 90-120 dex with your gear on, and the rest str.

get a clue if you're going to be giving advice
the weapon type you use had nothing to do with the way you distribute your stats
and vice versa

if it were me I would use axes because with an axe-dagger set you can do all classes except warlock
or you could use swords since then you don't need a different weapon set for the first 3 classes

but in terms of performance you won't notice a difference from type to type

well best if u get EE club or axe or something consistent dmg if u cant afford decent gear for wep

and get ee armor's or str/dex armor that is Plate or chain best dont go using a middle or robe stat'd armor unless its gfg stats or really high ee that can tank good

and for main slot charm get str or dex on it or both n if u get only str or dex on it its best if u get the opposite of ur armor if ur armor's str/dex instead of EE

n acc charm u can put a healing charm in there to heal but u wont heal that good

edit: n also if u plan on gettin a ok dex/str charm until u reach 55 make sure when u get to 55 ur exactly on 100-125 depending on ur gear in dex n then rest pump into str

for my char i have a decent charm at lvl 35 / 43 dex with 6 eis n some other stats on it at lvl 35 so i my stats into dex until it adds w/ 43 dex from my charm n equals 125 b/c i put my dex at 125 n i like it w/ my sword set n when im lvl 35 i get 125 dex already n my armor's are str mods n then after 35 i pump my stats into str n i get 130+ about depending if i upgrade or wat climb im on

100dex is enough if use axes
for swords 110-120 dex
rest of points should go in strength

i used a fighter with axes

140dex with gear
and full str

about the same as I do.. and the only good advice I seen here. but keep inmind, these amounts are including whatever stats you may have from gear at lvl 55.

Unless you plan on being some type of tanker, and if so, pick a barb for starts.. but then dex can play a key role for blocking crits.. gl m8.
