Just wondering if wellers really have to be caster characters or if its possible to create a proficient weller with something like a samurai. I dont really want to shell out to get all new gear if I can modify something I already have. I dont fully understand how welling works on a mathematical level so it wouldnt surprise me if the answer is no for many reasons.

Hit me with some info! Thanks!

you can but it's really expensive
basically you'll still need to stat int, but you can use a weapon to do your damage
will require a 200+EE heal , 200+EE weapon, main charm with 30+stat and 30+hm/int, armor with similar stats and possibly EE
now that's for 100% success, you can get by with less if you want
also this basically will let you do no regen too

So it would actually be less expensive to use and equip a magician then? Is it reasonable to use cheap gear till lvl 64 (?) then just buy nice upper level int gear?

As long as you can heal a little bit and make an effort than most people won't mind.

Thats actually one of the guides that made me post this question. He makes it very clear that he would use nothing but a Magician or Warlock but doesnt really say why. Exactly what effect does int have on welling anyway? Most of the guides that say what it does dont mention anything other than increasing mana pool. Is that the basic idea?

He = me -_-

And I'd actually use a paladin as well. I'm going to re-write the guide soon so I'll be sure to touch more deeply on that - but the main reason is because you NEED to be able to heal yourself effectively as well as be able to do mass damage. Casters are limited by their mana pool but they do a whole hell of a lot more damage and you can heal yourself as well so it's way easier to survive on those insanely tough monsters.

/edit: oh and another reason to have high intelligence is because it protects you from damage from caster mobs ;)
