I really want to speed up my mage climbs. Last night I sat down for an hour straight (or just under), and got 4 levels (went from 24 to 28). I am sure I can go faster with better gear. So:

I know some of the gear levels jump around a bit, so sue me

What do YOU think I need to upgrade to most efficiently speed up my climbs? I start casting at level 10 BTW. Couple of my personal observations:
1) Higher regen gear at higher levels
2) Higher ee damage charms
3) Higher int weapon and robe (probably gonna be most costly)
4) Higher ee heals (not as important IMO, they do enough)

Currently this is what I have. I am guessing that the best thing would probably be to upgrade my Ice Charms, that way I can go Hybrid Caster for future climbs if I should ever pass Mage, and still have the same charms to use.

Heal (I have a mix of heal and focused):
lvl5 - 57ee
lvl10 - 49ee

Regen:
most are 10 regen level 20's

Your int gear is good - it's better than what I use for the most part. Don't worry about upgrading that for a while unless you want to go for 40+ int at level 55.

Your ice charms are alright. Try to just find some charms on the tiers that you don't have with 80 - 90 ee. Your heal charms are (in my opinion) the part that is needing upgrading (the expensive part at least). The 50 is fine to take you to MQ but try upgrading your lower level charms and filling in the gaps as much as possible.

The first thing I would do is get some 14+ regen gear because it really saves a lot of time in the long run. It doesn't help with your killing speed but the decrease in wait time is very noticeable.


Personally I've found that I can definitely grind it out with gaps in my tiers of 10 or even 15 levels, but in order to maintain constant 6+ MCC all the way up it makes a difference to fill in the gaps unless of course you're using like 120ee level 25 gear, 160ee level 35 gear, and 200ee level 45 gear

Never realized that Heal Charms are so pricey

I will start looking for higher Regen gear, as I do agree with that point. And I guess I'll just see what other gear I can put together!

Yeah higher level gear is always pretty pricey and remember that wild heals are cheap for a reason

Your climbs will go faster as you do them more and more - partially due to gear upgrades but also due to getting in the whole flow of things
