I will be going melee on this char using swords only.
Without gear I will have a total of 50 dex.
When I hit lvl 55 I will have 88 dex. (Still need to get my MQ charm)
With my ideal dex charm I will have 107 Dex. (7 from armor and 50 from charm)

I have completed one climb with sammy so far. Using a 149EE lvl 45 sword (short on fg for my mq sword and don't feel like buying a temp), my MQ armor (52stats), and a crappy +31 dex charm (having a total of about 90dex and 15x str).
My highest hit crit was 2052 (that I saw), with an average of about 450-550 per hit.
I know that when I actually get the rest of my MQ EQ that my damage will be higher but that is just to sum up what I can do right now.

I am basically wondering if it is worth putting more stats into dex to get around 120, or stay with the 107 dex, or just forget about dex altogether and go with almost a pure str build.
Haven't really spent that much time with Melee chars. I prefer casters but since I passed on my mage I decided to swap my caster gear out for gear that I can use up until I reach Monk.
I have read a few guides. All of which tell me to hit 100-120 dex but I don't know if they have been outdated or maybe someone has found a better way to stat a sammy.


So basically I am wondering what would be the best way to stat a sammy.
I don't want to spend fg on a dex charm when I should buy a str charm instead.

you should be fine with 100-120 dext
the dext gives you higher critics and a better defense against critic hits.

it is advised to get up to 120 dext ( especially if you have a nice stuff ). I see you 'll have 107 dext and 15x str so you can go on and try with 120 dext IMO
if you don't know, just try both and you'll see what you prefer

Alright thanks man. Your guide was one of the ones I read when I threw my hybrid idea out the window.
I noticed that the dex made my crits higher but was just wondering how much dex would be the best.

I plan on getting a better armor and charm and the sword I am looking to get will be roughly 190+ EE depending on what I get for the rest of my caster gear and for how much I can sell them for.
So 120 dex seems to be where I should aim.
