Monk is really close to a rogue, so hybrid is a good choice.

For stating, I'd say have at least 70 intelligence, and rest melee stats [100 - 120 dex - rest strength]

And ofc use a ee weapon [bonus is if it has intelligence or heal mastery] and a stat armor and charm with int, or heal mastery. Other than that, equip your heal charm and fly past those levels. For soloing you should be getting more chains, it just might seem longer because you aren't killing them as fast. And for cata it is also very good as both melee and healing are essential for long lasting cats.

i use a monk hybrid and love it, just like gila said get pump your stats into int until 70, after that depending on your gear, put rest in dex or strength, Id be more than happy to answer any questions you would like. I have a little guide that i wrote up giving a break down of each level, chains time, damage average dam, heal average heal all that good stuff if you would like to see it
