actually I'd say it depends on the fg you want to invest in this game :)

if you want some good stuff, go with a fighter
if you don't wanna spend fg on ls, go with a barb ( slower )

in both cases, your fighter will need str and dext ( depending on your weapon )

swords : low dmg and highest critics , expensive , can be use on fighter/samy/pala/ninja => you'll need some dext to get critics ( ~ 120 dext at lvl 60+ then all in str )
Axes : very constant dmg , less expensive than swords but they can not be used on samy if you pass ( 60-80 dext then all in str to get high constant dmg )
Clubs: dmg between sword and axe , cheaper but can not be used on samy if you pass ( 80-120 dext then all in str )

try to keep your str a little higher than your dext all along your levels ;)

armors : Heavy armors with str or dext or EE (def ) on it
charm : any charm with dext or str on it

again you need to organize your stuff to see how much dext you get with your gear on ;)

keep your fg, I don't need it :)
just here to help out ;)

gandalf I don't know how many times I'm going to have to correct people like you
the weapon you use doesn't affect how much dex you want

so to welch: go 100-110 dex then rest in str if you're going to melee

the thing is, people have said the optimal amount is 120, but that changes depending on how much total dex+str you can afford to have
if you have less than a shitload you might be better off with 90-100 dex and rest str

Natester (God of LS) says hybrid casters are the way to go:

Melee as far as you can go
Use swords
Use classes that can do plate

HC don't cast below level 40-45

Start Fighter
+80 dex, 60 minimum
Rest is str gear, Highest ee
When you cast get a +int armor/sword

how that what you're saying is very different from what I wrote ? :)

I've tried it myself ;) I would not say it if it wasn't true
it does affect the thing.

the more dext means you have less str
especially about axes where constant dmg > critcs

we're talking mostly in case people don't have x K fgs to invest in this game, otherwise, they can go with a higher dext ;)

of course, it depends on how you play, but those people ask for numbers, so it is clear for them ;)
