I already have a decent dagger set. are ee staffs really that much better? i would mind buying staffs. just wondering if the difference is worth it

Edit: Also if i went staffs doesnt it hit high crits so im guessing go with around 120-130 dex?

clos if you have a dagger set already stick with that. Staffs will hit harder but do less average. I have used both before and i prefer daggers by a long shot. You can use them on more classes.

if you went staffs 110-120 dex is fine

why the hell will staffs do less damage?

I was under the impression each weapon had the same average damage, no?

from what i understand it depends on dex.

I think with like a sword, if you roll under their armor value and hit a 0, some of their armor value is wasted on such a weak hit, but your average hit is still the same as with an axe, and you will get some huge hits. With an axe, you are always rolling higher than their armor value so their armor value gets 100% use. If that makes sense.

Swords has the luck advantage of rolling low attack rolls vs their high defense rolls and high attack rolls vs their low defense rolls.

Edit: And i guess staves are somewhere in between so..

staves are cheaper, but can be used on less classes
daggers cost more, but can be used on more classes, not to mention they have a better damage range IMO (I like consistent damage) plus you said you already have some daggers

It's a no brainer in this case, go daggers.

this difference has nothing to do with dex
a crit does not automatically score a high end roll, it just multiplies your roll by a modifier %
so no
your weapon type doesn't mean jack shit when you're deciding how much dex you want/need
if you can determine the optimal ratio for an axe, it will be the exact same for a dagger, for a staff, for a sword, hell even for a fricken longsword it will be the exact same thing
