The only way to trade items in LS is to use the market place.
People usually post high valued items in the trade forums to try to find a buyer before they put it on the mp. The reason they do this is because some items' values depend on how many people want them and because there's a 5% pre-paid fee, so they'd rather have a buyer ready instead of taking the chance of it not selling and having to pay the fee again.
