such a guide can not be generally too expensive

in terms of stat distribution and advise for how to play, you will hardly get any other guide for casters because its not that easy to reinvent the wheel.
the concrete item setups suggested there are mainly suggestions based on personal experience because they worked well, you do not have to stick to them 1 by 1.
if you can not afford those items, just buy cheaper ones than listed there e.g. with less ee or less int.
but cheaper items with lower stats will usually always mean slower playing no matter how you distribute your stat points, there is no guide that can compensate this.
buying items is a very central part of the game and usually those with the better items will kill faster and easier.
basically mages are more expensive than rogue casters, but therefore more powerful especially in the final stages of the game ( e.g. for mfing, welling )
if you want to save fg, then go for a rogue caster because medium armors are cheaper than daggers/staffs and since a rogue can wear any kind of weapon,
the int from the weapon will be much cheaper as well. but still you will need an ee offensive charm and heal. how powerful they will be depends on your funds.
if you have 1000fg, there are several options.
you can buy a setup for every 5-10 levels and sell the old one for a similar price again, so you have about 1000fg again each time.
or you keep your old setups, but loose some funds after each stage.
you can play them hybrid, meaning melee from 1 - ~30 and switch to casting afterwards which is quite effective and cheap.
check e.g. these guides:
if you go through the item suggestions, check e.g. at the market place how much these items cost and add it together.
for the case you end up below 1000fg, its fine and you can easily go for that setup.
otherwise you have to sell old gear or buy gear with a bit lower stats to stay inside your limits.
if you invest less, you will certainly have some times where you need to grind, but thats just natural then.
all you can do is grind it out and improve your funds in order to invest into better gear next time.
