actually this would depend on how many stats total you can get from gear
if you're poor and 120dex would mean you are left with low str like 60, then you are better off with a little less than 120 and putting more str

it's all multipliers, dex will give you x%chance to do y%more damage, which in the end comes out to a single z% more damage overall
so if your base damage sucks from having no str, you're better off equalizing them to have a larger product

weapon type shouldn't really matter when considering anything at all
crits are just a multiplier and will have the same effect on all types of wepons
the only mod that really makes a difference with weapon type would be power shot, which is better when used with swords

+ % Power Shot Gives a % chance that your melee attack will do the full damage amount listed on the weapon.

so in a sword you would basically be doing almost twice the average damage
while with an axe it would barely be a noticeable difference

when powershot activates on a hit on a monster it shoves your hit to your maximum damage.

sexy when that kicks in plus critical.

Actually staff rogues (well at least they used to) go massivley into dex and none into str (just using str gear @ Low lvls)

and it seemed to work pretty effectivley (as a cata rogue not a soloer)

Now it might be better but to be honest my friend made a melee rogue w/ staffs and all dex and its his first climb in MANY seasons and he reach level 50 in like...3-4 days? I'm not sure how much he played but he only spent about 400 fg I believe.

So if its still that effective I won't be changing full dex for + str though it could very well be better.

Well..it probably is better if you arent going to use staffs btw
