hi i wish i could help you, i used barb as first char for my mq and i tried it in different ways:
i tried:
1) full str baba
2) full dex baba
3) full vita baba
i currently using clubs
1) with full strenght i do high dmg per single hit, but since dex is really low i hit not so often so generally not much total dmg
2)with full dex you do lower dmg but uincrease chance to get crit and dmg by critting, also increase hit chance so i guess total dmg is better than full str mode
3) with full vita i tried just for fun, awesome hp at lvl 70 about 8-9k and incredible defense 400+ but no much cirt, low dmg, low hit, anyway i think it is awesome if you got nice party whom play with cause barb is a tank you just need stay in front line take dmg with someone heal you and while others kills enemy (but you need a nice party)
so:
i guess best spec is doing like so: put all base stat point in dexterity and use 1xxee+ weapon, strenght charme and strenght or dex armor (plate better if with some ee still better)
Dude..you need to start checking your facts or something.
dex has NOTHING to do with chances of you hitting..this isn't d2 where AR comes into play.
Dex only allows you to get first strike and sometimes (I'm not sure if this still applys) hit quicker than a character with lower dex
on your dex build you failed to mention that dex also helps keep the monsters from Criticaling YOU therefore taking lower damage...again no increased chance to hit just increased speed.
I cannot comment on a full vita build as i've never done one..but it does sound fun if you have a larger or very active guild to play with.
Edit: and as for my opinion topic creator...120 dex WITH your level 55 gear on rest into strength..or I've seen that you can go as low as 100 dex and rest into strength and still be effective.
Oh and first 10 points into vita even trhough its not required..due to having a high Base vit already it will provide a NICE life boost from 0-71 (you gain x life per lvl automatically based on how much vit you have in HARD points (that means you don't get a life increase from items with + vitality) So the more you have in it early on the better that increase is toward 71 can lead to a few hundred or better life.
