ya i agree with this, my first char was a barb, barbs are cool, i used some cheapo axes, and some cheapo life steal gear, and tried to soloed arena as much as i could, i invested in a cheapo club, and they did allright, my first real investment was a 91ee lvl 35 axe, did pretty good, i still have it actually, it dose well, its cheap and sufficent to solo with providing some life steal gear, ill be replacing my 35 axe soon, its my last upgrade.
youll find that you will not need to invest much if in the lower level gear, the monsters will become harder at the higher levels however, and that is the best place to invest on gear in my opinion, allthough level 60+ will be expensive investment if you want to solo sufficently, it is probably just better to cata from 55 to 71 for the time being.
i would probably invest most into the weapon thats probably the most important, allthough if you chose to play catacombs, rather then solo in arena, you can save alot more fg.
a 100ee 35 and 100ee 45 would take you to 55 solo fairly easy, providing you get some decent armor and charm, my preference is life steal on both (for solo), it is rather slow with these ee weapons, but it still works, the more you invest on the weapon the faster and easyer it becomes pretty much, providing you have an ok armor and charm.
