I'm currently level 57 and i have trouble getting my MCC even to 5 a lot of the time. Now, i don't see a lot that i can do to greatly improve my build without spending thousands of fg. Is there something i should do or am i doomed to catacombs forever?

The more FG you spend to improve your gear, the faster you will level.

What you can do to improve your next character:

1. Put 0 points into vitality.
2. Get a total of 100 dext on your character somehow, rest strength.
3. Upgrade gear where you can (all could use improvement but mostly weapon and charm)

4. 4-5 MCC is honestly not terrible, so make what improvements you can and see what works through a few climbs. My suggestions may not be better without decent gear improvements.
