but in guide cara was lvl 33 and fighting lvl 56 wtf?

you cant fight monsters any higher than your current level with exceptions of the catacombs (if your leader is a higher level than you or you fall through a trap door) and wells
you can select between 5 chars (fighter, rogue, magician, barbarian, and guardian) to start with and have to pass the masterquest to unlock the other characters
