How do i play, what item (s) should i be using for my first ever ls char ever, it is a magician.

Any help is appreciated, im new to l/s and am more or less clueless.

It seems like leveling would take forever the way i know it right now.

?Anyone?

This isn't the Diablo II forums TooN, you can't just bump whenever.
People will get around and help when time suits them, it's not required for us to help.

For a magician some people will go melee until about level 20. But I used to just get a + mana armor and weapon and a high ee charm.
EE is the most important stat on your charm because with out it you will do low damage

EE stands for Enhanced Effect btw.

Well I don't mean to be rude but it's a rule even in Diablo II forums, it's just more strictly enforced here.

if u hate melee since u dont start out with that much hp, u can get a weapon with about 10+int and a armor with 10+ int and start out with charm with about 50+ ee which well get u pretty fast lvls. then once u hit the lvl 15/20+ get an armor with 20+int/ 20 +int on the weapon and get 100+ee charms (each of my 100+ee charm takes me 10+ lvls). these are my way for my mages and i solo pretty fine. yet the only way to deal with ur health is a high+ee focus heal charm. u will be switching from healing to attacking very often.

Alright, how do you equip charms etc, and for my magician, what kind of item should i be looking for, and using to start off with.

I'm more confused than u might think the average person could ever be with a game ._.

The best way to learn a game is to get out there and play it though

To equip an item just click "i" (making sure your not actually typing the letter i in the chat box) and drag the item you want to use into your item slot at the top.
You should be looking for max mana on a weapon at low levels. Intelligence is also a good choice. I would put all of your points into intelligence unless you would like a little extra life you can put the first 10 into vit and it wont hurt your damage too much

imo we all know the best charm to use for a mage is the ice charm, consistent dmg but there also charm like fire/earth that gives the same, the thing u want is the higher enhance effect at a lower lvl as possible the reason why is the mana that will be use, u see since a mage has not that much life a heal charm with decent ee (that are focus heal charm) will heal u back to life without a problem, here is an example of what i use from 1-71

1-10 i just shrine items since my charm can take me there without a problem

10-30 i use this charm

Magical focused heal V
Level Req: 10
Heals: 71 to 85
Mana Cost: 45

with my gears (+10 int weapon, +20 int armor) this will give u about 100-200+ (around there) heal which is like what, a third of ur life?

from 30-55 i use this charm
Rare focused heal IX
Level Req: 30
Heals: 140 to 168
Mana Cost: 85

+89% Enhanced Effect
+9% Experience Gained

from my nears 30's i have an armor/weapon with about 30+int, really its up to u to buy how much int u want but its recommended to have very high int since this will give u a boost of offensive/heal charms effects.
