the thing is, i'm pretty new to ls and still don't have a very clear idea of what stats to look for in items. so the question here is: what stats should i look for in armors and charms? the character is a fighter as topic title says.

Charms= str or dex
armors= str or dex

u want 120 total dex with gear when u hit your mq gear(normay 55) then rest into str

for a fighter, you want 120 dexterity (+/- 5) with your level 55 gear on.
aim for as high dex as you can get from armor/charm and put base points into strength.

to answer your last question: life steal is recommended at higher levels so you do not spend as much time regening. try to get this stat on your armor/charm.

Well in low level 1-25 you want on at least 1 item some life per kills (at least +70 lpk) instead at medium or high level 35+ you can use at least 1 item with 9+% life steal (items with good life steal + stats are quite expensive, but usually they deserve such prices)
