It should, I don't personally know exactly but if you trade smart and I guess grind as much as you can then yeah it def should get you a full set-up. I would just say watch the trade forums a lot and if you see a good deal and an item that you really need then go for it and grab it. 500 Forum gold got me a full mage set-up on softcore in which I can mq every 3 days or so so I don't see why 1k wouldn't get you a decent set-up, probably not the godliest but at least something you can play with.
