i wanna do a barb for my first LS guy =)

i read some of the guide and stuff and i like axe barb, and accord to the guide i should be doing str barb for using axe.

but i also saw somewhere in there that some people consider dex sword barbs better in the long run...? and that dex has been nerfed *after the guide was written* and i am not sure how much or what was nerfered on it? wan


so i just want to know if a sword dex still good compare to str axe barb and what does the dex do now?

Even if you go axes I'd still get at least 75-100 dext by lvl 55 with gear
Pure strength barbs are possbile, but you can miss out on some nice critical strikes that way also

I'd go for the axes build, but I'd consider putting some dext in anyway =)

I agree, as a first char (I'm quite new myself so cant get gosu str gear) I would go for a switch str/dex build, unless you find 150+ ee weps and great armors and charms every 5 lvl, which you wont, a pure str will feel very slow, i did one some time ago and just rerolled on 45 something cus i simply couldnt move on

its easy to explain.
If u wanna do a constant dmg you should skill str.. many str.
If u wanna be fast and do much crits you should skill dex.. many dex.

I made a pure str fighter before and he did around 500 dmg with a normal hit. (axe ofc)
a pure dex fighter would make around 200-400 dmg with normal hit and 1000-1200 with crit (sword ofc)
a pure dex fighter got a crit rate around 30% every third hit would be a crit..

3 hits pure str = 1500 dmg
3 hits pure dex = 1200-1800 dmg

So its nearly the same..
a pure str char would also do some crits.

I still prefer the str one... But dex one is also good.
my next barb will be ~80dex rest str.

All melee builds are alike. 120 dext, then the rest into str.

Anyone who says axe=str and swords=dext don't know what they are talking about

Dext Has deminishing returns after and many people believe 120-130 is a good range to be in. Dext not only increases ur dmg on crit and chance of doing crits but also reduces the dmg you take when u receive a crit from a mob aswell as it increases ur attack speed.

Str on the otherhad is a steady thing, it just increases ur dmg.

So if you're an axe build and you got all str. You will attack slower, hardly ever do crits, and take huge crit shots from mobs.

Now if you have 120 dext with the rest str. You will attack faster, do regular crit shots, and hardly ever receive crit shots from mobs
