i am trying to figure out why i have not noticed any life increase in either catacombs nor the arena when i use life steal % after i lad a hit on a monster.I have been trying to pay close attention to this and have not seen any increase in my life levels when these mods are in use....rather frustrating when i am trying to keep yself going as long as possible...can anybody offer up any words of wisdom on my dilemma

life steal does not work in the catacombs.
you're most likely not doing enough damage to actually steal any life with 1% life steal
