Theoretically if we had top tier int gear/high EE charm which element do you think is the best in group climb setting?

As an ex lightning charm abuser I liked being able to cast multi as much as possible even at low % charges and clearing mobs. Although I do think that consistent damage could be better when solo and only 3 mobs spawn, as well as when healing.

Would love to hear everyone's opinions on which elemental charm is the best and why :thumbsup:

Maybe fire is the best which is why it has 2 monsters immune to fire compared to 1 like the rest :evil:

This is a topic based on individual beliefs and their game play.

My following comment is actually based on Heavy Weapons vs Normal weapons, however;

Ice vs Lightning ... consistency vs low/high damage.

Focus vs Wild heal ... consistency vs low/high healing.

Personal opinion ... I would use Lightning and Wild over Ice or Focus healing.

The game has made many changes since the old days where consistency was the bomb diggity bomb. Now, when you are a Warlock or Alchemist and healing with consistency (focus) or casting with Ice... the healing capacity and damage takes more casts, whereas a Lightning or Wild could (not always of course) heal most or kill off a monster instantly at level 75+

Just my 2 cents worth.

for groups focus is SIGNIFICANTLY better than wild. i mean, guy loses 500-700 hp hp which is standard amount to lose and to potentially expect healing on SC.
A focus will give a guaranteed ~500-600 so 1 heal is always enough. A wild would do 200-900, where 1 heal could be overkill or hardly anything. This is partially why a focus is worth more than double what wild is.

In terms of damage charm, personally i don't think it matters a great deal. At lower levels ice is slightly preferred seeing this guarantees everything gets 1 shot at level 1-10, whilst a lightning can vary.


I don't think you can argue a wild will heal more than a focus, unless you factor in the price.

Now I wonder if the high EE ices are able to one shot mobs at lvl 55+ and at what charge % of multicast

All charms have the same Average damage (same for healing). Chances of one(1) shot killing is reduced by Multicast and at higher levels when monsters hit points are higher.

For SC and group climbs, I guess you would consistently use Multistrike @ 50% charge (75% is better of course) ... no point using it at 200% charge.

I could get away with casting at 3x% charge in sc group climbs and still wipe out mobs with my old setup.

Are you talking about Elite items... 160%+ EE and like 50-60 Int items.

Well if you are, then you are just being complacent, and that can kill you.

first of all, due to the mob change where mobs can remove your charge, getting above 100% charge is to be avoided.
There will also be a point where ices won't 1 shot things even at 200% multicast charge. i wouldnt be surprised if it was as low as level 45.

Playing optimally and using the charge at any big wave at ~60% charge with top tier gear i dont think you're 1 shotting the entire wave at level 20 or possibly even level 15.
hence why i suggested ice was only optimal very early on.
