you know that is a good question I don't know the answer there but I know not putting it all into int costs you at least 1k mana

I do think tho that its 1 point per stat per lvl

Life at level 71 with...

20 vita: ~1400
25 vita: ~1800
30 vita: ~2100


If I remember correctly. So there is a pretty big difference, I think it's worth it to put the first 5 into vita personally

Well, you'll get 10 right away when you add it and then each level up you will get 5 additional life from it so... 71 * 5 + 10 = 365 :)

You're essentially swapping your mana with life by statting vit instead of int.

By gaining 700 hp from putting 10 into vita would mean losing 700 mana at lvl 71

Nah actually you lose significantly more mana than that, because you start out with much higher base int than vita.

However, I sacrifice that mana because I have been crit'd before for over 1400 while welling. I have been crit'd for over 1800 before as well, but it doesn't happen nearly as often. That bit of extra life can be the difference between life and death when you are fighting well mobs or high level arena.



With great gear though people can accomplish 20 vita perfectly fine, but my gear is mediocre so I feel more comfortable at 25 :) it's preference though

How so? The difference is going to be 10 in each stat, so:

30vit and 60int vs. 20vit and 70int

after lvl 1, your int will still retain a 10 stat point differential even as you level. There will also be a 10 vit differential as you keep in leveling.
Perhaps I'm missing something here?

I always went base vit, but now having played a warlock (35vit) my mage feels horribly fragile. If i were to climb again I'd certainly put 5 into vit at the start.

to confirm what i said after leveling my mage its 1 life per base stat per level. And as stated before you want to only put max of 5 into vita imo
