the level of the well monster is either 10 levels higher than the item, or 1 level higher than you (whichever is higher).

you don't need to spend a whole lot to get to 71. maybe 500-1k or so. if you have decent items, you'll probably be accepted into catas.

500-1k to play up to lvl 71 is ok y.
softcore is cheaper than hardcore.. my mage cost around 3,5k fg and is able to well on lvl 64 with around 90% success..
dont try to build melee weller.. on a mage you need around 35int weapon/ 35int armor/ 130ee attack charm/ 110 ee heal charm
i prefer ice for attack and focussed heal.. i wouldnt try to well with worse items than that.. could be ok for very low rate of success..
but with low fgs dont even think of welling on hardcore ;-) will only let your small fgs items dissapear as you die.

You can get to level 71 with almost any fg if they accept you in catas, sometimes they do
imo for start healer is the best cause even if low they will need it in catas
