we already established i was wrong thanks for rubbing it in.
I was saying that i thought 50% of the time you were attacked by a melee monster and 50% of the time you were attacked by a casting monster. But i now understand there to be only 3 possibilities.
1) Melee dmg: the monster spawns with weapon and attack charm and he attacks you with his weapon.
2) Melee dmg: the monster spawns with weapon and heal charm and he attacks you with his weapon.
3) Caster dmg: the monster spawns with weapon and attack charm and he attacks you with his attack charm.
3 posssible outcomes means 66% chance to be hit with melee and 33% chance its casting. Making Physical def slightly more helpful then magical defense.
Ie scale is better tanking gear for cata.
with intelligent welling you can throw items in to influence the outcome.
throwing a heal charm in guarantees melee dmg so you should wear plate.throwing in an attack charm raises the chance of Magical dmg to 50% from 33%
all other items will not effect dmg type chances.
ofc robes and plate and other combinations will still effect the monsters armor but otherwise its just helpfull to know what you might get.
