Should I buy WAR? Currently playing WoW, getting old. How is WARs PvP/PvE? As unbalanced as WoW?

PvE - Not nearly as fun as WoW since there are no large raids. Dungeons are a maximum of 6 people
PvP - Depends on the server. On the one I played, 99% of it was called "RvE" - Realm vs. Environment - people purposefully avoided pvp so they could farm renown. End game was entirely PvE, we sacked their city and just PvE farmed for awhile. Fortress lords are buggy, lots of exploiting going on still.

Dark Crag RVR is so awesome at times. We have absolutely massive battles sometimes. The pvp is pretty constant too.

I haven't experienced much of the PVE side since I don't enjoy it, but there are no raids if that's a turnoff.

(By the way, when I say massive I mean on a scale different from any other server in the game. We've crashed the entire server before at a random keep battle due to the sheer ridiculous amount of people.)

You're saying this like a good thing lol.

Fortresses on my server were virtually untakeable (would crash server, fortress timer didn't reset, fortress doors did) until they limited the amount of people that can enter.

Renown? And how good of a computer does it require? I get 40+ FPS in Dalaran in WoW with all addons/settings maxxed. That good enough for WAR?

Renown?

Renown = equivalent to honor in WoW. Except with renown, you can gain renown through PvE, so everyone just avoided PvP since faster to gain renown from PvE

what happened to the time you could find a game that never lost its replay value (assuming other opponents where getting better and better along with you)

competitive games... not this fluffy nubbish

edit: before we cry, by competitive i mean games with objective winners and losers, as opposed to subjective 'winners' and 'loser'

I don't consider WH a competitive game in this sense. You can approach it competitively but your not neccessarily judging your degree of success by the same standads as someone else.

ex) a person with the best items in the game and highest renown rank Vs. someone whos character is not neccessarily good, but efficiently and effectively runs the most dominating guild in the game for a long standing, and also focuses on the games economy, having amassed a wealth of gold and equiptment/ trade supplies that could finance an empire,
or Vs. a supporting class character that perhaps does not have the highest rr/best equip, but who through his/her tactical/strategic supporting effect on the battlefield has caused the biggest impact over all on the server as compared to other players, but whose success value cannot be numerically quantified

I agree that these games are always going to get old over time, in some way shape or form it's always going to turn into a grind. Unless maybe you just 'play for fun', that will get old to when you constantly get outshined by nubs however :/

It's allways funner to be 'better'
