I play Wow atm, and I am thinking of trying ouut warhammer.
I was wondering if there is going to be something like arenas in wow where you have a team, and fight another team, and if you win you get points to get gear, or something like that.

Also, how do you attain gear? is it going to be like WoW?

yes there is a big arena, called scenario with 3 flags and you get pvp points, exp (should be like doing 5 quests if you win it) and you can buy pvp gear from a specific merchant, the higher pvp level you are, the better equip you can buy. Also you can drop items in the pvp arena (but it's pretty rare).
The only difference is that on WAR the arena is bigger and it's zerg vs zerg, not 3v3 2v2 e 5v5. The scenario looks more like a battleground

So how about the gear gap between the players, is it as big in WoW or more "casual" friendly eg. you could take down lesser skilled player with better gear than yours?

in tier 1, anybody can take anybody down. The gear helps considerably but the thing that helps out more is your skill/rank.

when you join a RvR battle . all your stats and skills are boosted to rank 8. This evens the playing field.

Example: say im a rank 1 iron breaker(Then boosted to rank 8) vs a rank 11 Black Orc, i will dent him slightly cuase i still only have my lvl 1 skills (which is like 1 move), Since he has a higher rank, Better gear, More skills to use. you will most likely lose.

The game is well balanced.

how about turning into a chicken when you're in a lower tier

120 health 0 armor is not much of a challange

they have "bg's" no arena instanced combat for 5v5's though or smaller. I beleive bg's are like 10-15 vs 10-15. Aside from that the game is based around larger scale pvp not small scale. You get gear from pvping and pveing (the good pve gear is through rep rewards thus far) pvp gear is quite easy to attain and is good, but pve gear thus far (lvl 11) has been slightly better.

I've found it to be the other way round, apart from some rare chest piece I got from a public quest, PVP armour is definitely better than the PVE stuff.
