I just know 95% of the inflation is bc the constant banwave to sellers.
They did like 5 banwaves in 2weeks and half. So millions and millions of gold gone.
I find it hard to believe that botters had millions on hot accounts.
Seems much more likely they shift their gold often and didn't lose nearly as much as people are saying.
Now people pay 3x as much...kinda like what's going on in the real world today.
Not saying the banwaves didn't have an impact, they definitely did, but I just don't see these guys getting outsmarted by smilegate/amazon/whoever...they are almost always 1 step ahead, and again, only complete morons (which the botters most definitely are not - perhaps their customers, but not the botters) would get caught with hundreds of thousands on a hot account.
As for the "banwaves", it looks like pretty steady decline rather than "a million accounts being banned" within 2 weeks.
https://steamcharts.com/app/1599340#1mAfter some thought, I believe it is likely they nerfed sources of gold for low-level bots (which has been confirmed from my understanding), touted it as "a big banhammer", gold value shot up and amazon wins because we pay more $$ on the exchange for less gold and people are scared to buy 3rd party because they have been so "proactive" with their "bans".
That, and a lot of shop items are only obtainable with rc or on the AH, so gold > purple crystals, which wasn't really the case before the omen sets (which, in case you didn't realize, coincided with the "bans" and gold increasing in value). The exchange dictates the value of gold, both on the AH as well as RMT sites. Since people can buy skins and sell for more than they can sell for gold on the exchange, purple crystal value drops, RMT price goes up accordingly and prices of gold settles much higher because less gold is being bought and sold on the exchange. The exchange is what $$ and gold value are predicated on.It is smoke and mirrors.
