This spread sheet will help most of us in not blowing our precious diamonds on things that you could purchase with gold at a lower rate.

Always change the Gold/Diamonds ratio and be sure to update your price per item from the AH daily to keep a accurate Efficacy table. 
Since there was so much interest from a previous page https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=92747877&f=69&o=10, I figured I would share this one with the community to add visibility.
Only things yall need to change should be in "Pink" lettering everything else should stay the same.
Base your purchases off the "Efficiency" tab and you shall be saving massive amounts of gold. If you plan on whaling the game, then this may not apply to you as much.

Answer: Yes if you have the gold to purchase diamonds then and the efficiency Colum is green then we are safe to say that buying them with diamonds would save you gold.
