So I retooled my monk that I created way long back in like 1.03 I think.

I went with a sunwuko set with wave of light option and the crits im puting out are around 7b-10b.
I have yet to put some real serious paragon numbers up and only my weapons are ancient.

I thought about just using the litany / wailing for my rings as the bonus but it doesn't seem beneficial to me right now.
Other gear are some random items.

I can do up to GR50 without getting too uncomfortable but everything is just pounding me and the monk dies too fast.

are you using the kanai's cube? it has been introduced later then your character creation iirc.
also, changes are non retroactive so you could have set item that give lower bonus compared to actual sets

I've got a weapon that adds sweeping stacks, aquila cuirass as armor slot and ring of gradure in the ring slot.

I figured how to stack upgrade gems on my ancients and I've been upgrading rates and rerolling set pieces

The other guy mentioned using innas set I might try that since a buddy uses it and he can do GR80 solo

just check out the monk leaderboard, there is only one viable build per class so all of them will be using exactly the same gear and build - just copy that and you are good to go

The leaderboards show gr competition, has nothing to do with every other fun viable build for other experiences. Every class has the strongest output/gear setups.

Every game has that.
