I barely installed the update. Haven't played in awhile but last I played was season 3/4 and diablo 3 ran perfect. Now I got this 2.4.2 update and when I first log on it's a complete black screen music plays fine. I learned I have to windows out then go back on for it to show and I'll get the character screen to show but it'll be frozen. Then I have to click on what I want then windows out and back in piece by piece till I get into the game. What causing this?

What video card do you have? I'm not sure if this falls under the issue but I think it's AMD that the game has issues with under certain drivers.

Can you link your pc specs?
Try putting it into windowed mode (fullscreen)

If your pc specs are bad I'd suggest lowering settings as well as

Set hardwareclass to 1
Set disabletrilinearfiltering to to 1

This is done in
C:\Users\Martin\Documents\Diablo III > d3prefs

Yes this will reduce your game quality but will hopefully help your game run smoother overall

Actually the window mode slipped my mind somehow. I had to play windowed (full) due to constant tearing otherwise.

I will try this. Thank you.

Also, I have tried windowed full screen and window mode.

There's a thread on BNET somewhere pertaining to the driver issues for the older cards that had discontinued support. They link you to a crimson beta driver set that works
