So i was on WoW reddit and saw this i had a good laugh

I think Diablo and RoS made a huge impact on Blizzard as far as developing content that has a lasting effect and doesn't get old quick.

It's the influence of Mosquiera, he fixed D3 with RoS expansion, now he is on mission to fix WoW with Legion expansion. Funnily enough he has been fixing those games after same designer, who luckily left blizzard! I can't recall his name tho.

ros definitely improved the game, but then the patch pathing turned into a shitty grind with no build diversity

ros could have made diablo 3 a much better game with its proposed ideas, but they decided to throw all the positive changes out the window and now its so far in the trash that it will never improve

There are probably more viable tx+ build for each character then there are hell builds for d2.

Not sure if you haven't been on d3 in a while.

Not saying d3 couldn't be improved on still, but it has come along way since vanilla d3, or even when ros first came out and only build was m6 dh

All of these builds are viable for Hell and many of them are even viable for PvP...

Paladin
Smiter
Hammerdin
Zealot
Templar (Fists of the Heaven)
Vindicator/Templar (FoH/Smite)
Charger
Avenger (Vengeance/Conviction)

Crusader
Thorns of the Invoker
Seeker of Light
Legacy of Nightmare Bombardment

Maybe a Crusader can get through TX with Roland's Legacy? Even with the benefit of the doubt, that's still like 1/2 as many builds as in D2. Also, D3 is going to be releasing TXIII within a couple of weeks. With Torment 13 being the new standard difficulty for your Bounty and Rift farming, there will be even less build diversity... Builds that could struggle to do TX will find it impossible to do T13 at all...

Lol every set for each char can tx+ not to mention lon with all the characters too, I'm not talking about leaderboard pushing just clearing tx rifts and bounties any class with 6 Pc set can tx dude

And some of your hell builds can't kill shit with immunitys, d3 doesn't have that in tx

You have mercenaries to deal with immunities. You can use followers in D3 TX so why can't you use them in D2 as well?

I'm very skeptical that every set can do TX like you said... I have been trying to mess around with a full Armor of Akkhan set Crusader for a while, and have had zero success even doing Bounties. There's no way I could kill something like Belial solo in TX, much less solo in a 4 player game. You can argue that I built this Crusader wrong, but even Blizzard realizes that this particular set blows.

Blizzard is giving the set a pretty significant buff in 2.4.2:

Class-Specific Items

Crusader
Armor of Akkhan
(6) Set Bonus
Damage bonus increased from 450% to 600%
Now also reduces damage taken by 15% while Akarat's Champion is active

Like I said, going through TX is cute and all but TXIII is coming out in this next patch too. The bar will be raised, and honestly how many viable builds will remain viable in this higher difficulty? Do all sets remain viable? And even if they somehow did, it's 4 sets per class. Just in my Paladin example, I list 6 builds. And I'm sure I didn't even list them all.

If you continue to compare TX to D2's end game, you are only comparing D3's mid game to Diablo 2's end game. It's really not a fair comparison here. Hell difficulty is the highest difficulty and the final destination to play in for D2. You literally can't play higher than that for experience or loot. There is a reason people bot their way to 99 in Hell difficulty Baal runs.

To make a fair comparison, you gotta compare D2's end game to D3's end game. Greater Rifts are the end game content for D3. Most players only do normal rifts as a source of keystones so they can participate in the actual end game content which are Greater Rifts. The higher you go in up in the GRs, the more loot, experience, and better gear you can get thanks to the whole legendary gem system they put in place. Running rifts in TX is really just mid game, especially considering most people can breeze through GR 70's now while TX is the same difficulty as GR 45...

And to make it fair, you need to ask how many builds are END GAME viable for each class. Or if you want to make it fair, you might as well compare D2's Nightmare difficulty viable builds to D3's TX builds. Just saying.

trying to argue that diablo 2 had some vastly diverse build capabilities in comparison to diablo 3 is about as cancerous as trying to say diablo 3 has a good future
