Hi!

This is the interesting build to have as good of a build as possible for the monk! I have put a lot of thought into this build and as of this patch it seems pretty much impossible to not be able to handle any greater rift difficulty!

Ultimate Defensive Monk Equipment

Helm: Inna's (1)
Shoulder: Born's (1)
Necklace: Blackthorn's (1)
Ring 1: Justice Lantern (12% Chance to Block)
Ring 2: Oculus Ring (85% All Resist, 7% Attack Speed, 12% Reduced Elite Damage)
Gloves: Inna's (2)
Armor: Inna's (3)
Bracers: Spirit Guards (35-40% Reduced Damage for 5 seconds when using attack)
Belt: String of Ears (25-30% Reduced Damage from Melee)
Pants: Blackthorn's (2)
Boots: Blackthorn's (3)
Weapon: Born's Sword (2)
Shield: Coven's Criterion (45-60% less damage from blocked attacks)

Kanai's Cube Effects:

Weapon: Wall of Man (30% Chance to be protected by bone when hit)
Armor: St. Archew's Gage (150% of max HP as absorb shield first time being hit by Elite)
Ring: Royal Ring of Grandeur (Reduced number of required Set Items by 1)

Total Set Bonuses:
+ 15% Life
+ 10% Reduced Cooldown of Skills
+ Increases Passive effect of all mantras by 100%
+ Gain the effect of all Mantras at the same time
+ 250 Vitality
+ 10% Increased Damage against Elites
+ 10% Reduced Damage from Elites
+ Immune to Desecrator, Molten, and Plagued monster Ground Effects.

Legendary Gems:

Estoteric Alteration - Rank 30

+ 25% Non-Physical Damage Reduction
+ 75% Elemental Resistances while below 50% HP

Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard - Rank 30

+ 40000 Life Regeneration Per Second
+ Gain an absorb shield of 200% of total Life Per Second after 4 seconds

Mutilation Guard - Rank 30

+ 40% Melee Damage Reduction
+ Move unhindered while below 50% HP

Enjoy if you want to try it out.

Pretty much a useless/selfish build?
Healing seems pretty low..

Or am I missing out on something?

O_O

Yes, you are missing out on a lot apparently.

This build is supposed to be a tank build (G. Rift 80+ on SC or 50+ in HC).

The stats of the items should be:
+ Vitality
+ % Life
+ HP Regen/HP on Hit
+ All Resist
+ Attack Speed%

No priority in Damage!

The skills are also meant for a player to figure out themselves. I would use Blinding Flash, Serenity, Inner Circle, Cyclone Strike (to move all enemies to you - away from allies). Attack: First of Thunder - Frost Rune (Freeze each 3rd hit) | Lashing Kick (Stun Rune - To Stun once you have used Cylone Strike). Also Works on Elites.

This is simply the best helper you can have in a HIGH (over-leveld Greater Rift). This build also increases damage to allies (meaning it justifies its lack of damage), also increases Defense/Healing and taunting enemies away from them.

In simple terms: 1 of this monk + 3x DPS can achieve higher G. Rifts than 4x DPS (all equally good in gear).

Inner sanctuary / forbiden place is what usually keeps your group alive
Unsure how you plan on getting 100% uptime with no cdr?

Im not saying your build wont be able to tank high grs
But seems pretty selfish with a full group

The reg standard heal monk that every1 uses in leaderboards >

This is a very bad build.
Not viable at all for group play.

When people make build, they test it out themselves to proof that it is viable at least.

Only good build should be published and shared. In your case it's not tested, purely theory crafting, and even bad at doing it.

While you be tanky and hard to die, you have so little synergy for group play.

Definitely trash.

Can't really see the benefits of you items chosen for this build..

My char looks like this: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Gerner-2549/hero/67143166
And I can take Grift 70.. And with more ancient and a bit changes of stats (Secondary ress etc) I should be able to do 75+..

I have tried the build and can say that I haven't seen myself being close to die, however there is a way to get it to be more team efficient afterall. The heal monk is not a secret, but here is probably the perfect one if you play Hardcore (where you need to stay alive for Greater Rift 75+ without being too worried of dying). In softcore you can use other gems and items to help the team do more damage, but this is just focused on maximum defense/healing.)

Helm: Helm of Command (Block%)
Shoulder: Born's (1)
Necklace: Hellfire Amulet (Resolve/Beacon of Ytar/Harmony/Near Death Experience/Sixth Sense)
Ring 1: Justice Lantern (Block%)
Ring 2: Rogar's Huge Stone (Life Regen%)
Gloves: Inna's (1)
Armor: Inna's (2)
Bracers: Spirit Guards (40% Reduced Damage on Attack)
Belt: String of Ears (30% Reduced Melee Damage)
Pants: Inna's (3)
Boots: Boots of Disregard/The Crudest Boots
Weapon: Born's (2)
Shield: Stormshield (30% Reduced Melee Damage)

Passive Skills:

- Resolve: Damaged enemies deal 20% less damage for 2.5 seconds
- Beacon of Ytar: Reduce cooldown of all skills by 20%
- Harmony: 40% of your single resistances apply to All Resistance
- Near Death Experience: Gain 35% of max HP when dying (60 second cooldown)
- Sixth Sense: Reduce non-physical damage by 25%

5 passives listed, but 1 of these skills should be obtained from the Hellfire Amulet!

Kanai's Cube Effects:

Weapon: Coven's Criterion (60% less damage from blocked attacks)
Armor: Boots of Disregard/The Crudest Boots
Ring: Royal Ring of Grandeur (Reduced number of required Set Items by 1)

Total Set Bonuses:

+ 15% Life
+ 10% Reduced Cooldown of Skills
+ Increases Passive effect of all mantras by 100%
+ Gain the effect of all Mantras at the same time

Legendary Gems:

Estoteric Alteration - Rank 40

+ 30% Non-Physical Damage Reduction
+ 75% Elemental Resistances while below 50% HP

Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard - Rank 40

+ 50000 Life Regeneration Per Second
+ Gain an absorb shield of 200% of total Life Per Second after 4 seconds

Mutilation Guard - Rank 40

+ 30% Melee Damage Reduction
+ Move unhindered while below 30% HP
