I've been experimenting with some thorns damage on my whirlwind barb, over 50,000 damage total when I use the passive skill "Tough As Nails" but what I can't figure out is when exactly that damage is being applied? Does it glow a certain color because it's hard to distinguish the thorns damage from my regular damage.
Or must I use the legendary axe called "Hack" that applies 75 to 100 % thorns damage on every attack? I have two of them: 2050 damage with 99 % thorns damage and 2670 with 83 % thorns damage.
I've been using this on Torment VI. I can't say I'm killing any faster than before. It seems easier just to use my Bul Kathos sword set because I attack a whole lot faster. I was really hoping this Thorns build would be viable on Torment VI or higher greater rifts. It just seems like something fun to try out.
And I'm assuming the rift guardians and greater rift guardians are immune to thorns damage like they are with the charming effect on threatening shout from The Skull of Resonance? Because I can't seem to tell a difference unless I'm looking at things wrong with my own eyes. I guess it would look too over-powered if it did work.
