Here's my first guide: throw/nado barb 1.04 style

Requirements:
50+ crit chance
800+ buffed res
2,5+ leech (at least! depends on dmg tho, i play with 86kdps & 2,8leech) (or loh but leech is better if you can get high dmg as you should with this build)
as much lowered fury cost for weapon throw as you can get (rather ~4+ reduce)
as much critical hit dmg as you can get + dps ofc

Passive skills:
No Escape - this one will give you chance for 14 fury with weapon throw, and takes away cooldown with ancient spear if crit hit (both are main attacks of this build)
Ruthless - for crit
Weapons mastery - for crit

Skills:
Throw Weapon - Ricochet (Left click attack)
This rune let's you hit 3 monsters and 2 other hits have autoaim. Main attack along with Ancient spear.

Ancient Spear - Harpoon (Right click attack)
With the rune you can throw ancient spear into large groups of monsters, almost guaranteed crit hit and then no cooldown. This is the crowd control attack of this build. Also generates tons of fury (15 per) when you can spam it constantly.

Battle Cry - Into the fray
Damage, fury generator

War Cry - Impunity
Resistances, defense, fury

Wrath of the Berserker - Insanity
Double damage, will boost leeching and dmg to insane level as rune says

Sprint - Run Like the Wind
Tornado's = damage, fury, allows your character to move through the run with high runspeed (40% bonus)

Items:
Main: Mace/Axe high dps, open socket (str vita leech loh are good) - use this type of weapon for 10% cc bonus from passives
Offhand: The Three Hundreth spear with socket (as high dmg bonuses % as possible, also dps) - also rare weapons with socket + crit dmg + good dps (str vita) are fine

Helm: CC, str vita, all res (sock)
Shoulder: str vita all res
Rings: CC, str vita @ res (ias, crit dmg) - Also 1.04 Skull grasp with lowered resource cost to weapon throw + str as base is insane for this build (but rare as well)
Boots: 12 movement, str, vita, all res
Armor: str, vita, all res
Bracers: CC, str, vita, all res
Amulet: CC, crit dmg, str, vita (ias, @res, (loh))
Pants: str, vita, all res
Belt: Most important here is to have close to 5 resource cost lowered for weapon throw. I recommend IK Belt 1.04 (+ 1 other IK item) or Lamentation 03 04, also rare belt is fine too. Most important besides resource cost is lifeleech, then str, vita, all res as usual.

Playstyle:
*hit warcry + battlecry --> keep battle cry on at all times
*sprint to cover distance fast

Killing:
*big groups of monsters --> hit them with ancient spear constantly and spam throw weapon too while u do it (when you pull specials close, click sprint on and back off a few steps, pull again, repeat until dead)
*If you get hurt badly, back off with sprint, spam throw from afar
*Wrath only when harder specials, it will boost damage insanely also use at bosses
*Kill Azmodan with tornados

If you play group:
change sprint rune into "forced march" so whole group can enjoy running faster

Nice features being thrower barb opposed to melee:
*Monsters that run from you are np
*molten is np, firechain is np, plagued is np
*high melee dmg monsters like malachors for example are np
*you will never miss a goblin as you can pull him back with ancient spear and both your attacks have slow + are ranged

Been playing many hours with this guy and the build rocks the shit out of full game, sick farmer possibilities

wrong

800 + buffed res arent that important, i ran a3 without res buff and around 400 all res without probs

How did you fair against elite packs with molten/plagued, 800+ res should be a definate

What is the average cost of this build? Is it any budget friendly like the ww build?

Both Esajoram & I tested it with a high budget barb, to figure out how nice can this build work in high end gear

but the nice thing is that you basically aim for same stats a ww barb does : high crit chance % & crit dmg, the same amount of res buffed & same main hand ( axe / mace )

The only thing you need to change to benefit the most of this build would be to get a belt with 4+ fury reduce cost for weapon throw, along with str / all res / vita / ( life leach ) , these belts are a few xx k on AH

same goes for the 300th spear, it's pretty cheap for now on AH ( yet it's not a must have,you can try this build with ur regular ww barb offhand, you will do a bit less dmg, but will gain stats / cd% & extra life leach & Loh, and I advice anyone willing to try this build not to buy it riight away but try it already with your current offhand ! )








what's the point in playing with 400 @ res on inferno act 3 & kiting while you can tank a few hits & more survability with extra @ res & armor with war cry?

it's basically a fast build, so no need to slower it down by such things

he's kiting 24/7, can't go melee, very low survability

his barb's build actually looks like aglass canon DH with 50@ res & 10k hp, getting 1-2 hit by almost everything...

& he doesnt even use Ancient's spear, which is a key skill on this build along with Harpoon rune, which allows to pull most monsters, walk away a bit with sprint & hit back with weapon throw, & they usually die in a few seconds




the gear is the same used for ww barb except for belt and then offhand.

nowadays ww barb items are flooding the market and it's not that hard to get them for relatively cheap

only the belt may cause problem, yet there are a few pages on them on AH so it shouldnt be a problem

the problem isn't usually the build, its getting the gear for it.

theres lots of good 300th spears right now for cheap (imo)
other special item is the belt with reduced resource cost, rare ones especially come in all priceranges

besides that its geared just like a ww/nado and many ppl seem to find gear for that so i'm sure also for this
