ok more question incoming. i'm still very new to dh so bear with me.
I just found an ammy with 15% cold, 670 dex, 96% CHD, 9% CC. What do I remove for a socket?

Remove dex for soc.

i would remove the cold damage.

what's the logic behind removing dex or cold dmg? just curious.

dex also adds to armor, especially since i feel that awareness is a must use.
i feel that on rings, ele% > dex
on amulets, with the higher values dex can roll, dex > ele%

I honestly don't know.
I would say cold damage but all in all the 600 dex may do way less dmg.

Even tho as stated below it does help with armor and damage, its a very hard call.

I personally have 2 rings socketed and full stats on neck
I don't need or want 3 socketed gems.
Other stats aren't worth it to me,
I hate the dmg boost after elite mobs thing. especially for only 30 seconds

More like 70secs once you upgrade.the gem
And 15% bonus against elites

sorry if i misread your question earlier.

if you were wondering why do one or the other at all, the bonuses you can get from levelled up gems outweighs the bonus from the stat.
10% crit and 100% cd are just too good to give up on amulet.
which leaves ele% or dex on amulet.

on rings, personally i value the 6% crit > dex on soj, so i roll dex to socket.
on rorg, loh -> socket every time



personally, for cold DH, especially for higher rifts, I prefer the bonuses from enforcer, bane of the trapped, and zei's gem over bane of the powerful
