question:
why is stormshield so good for monk?
isn't dual 1h better because you can get higher dodge% and higher loh?

Storm shield is good for its high block amount and block rate with damage reduction but iunno I'm wondering the same

I'm using a 70+ res shield I might start double 1h but not the dual wield passive with the crit dmg to dodge passive cause curious how high it can go

there will be not "best". it depends on skills, items and money.

Dual wield builds are dependent on dodge and mitigating 1 or maybe 2 hits at the most.

Most of all, dual wield builds depend on LOTS OF MONEY.

You have to have not one but TWO high-dps weapons with LoH on them and preferably some good stats as well (dex/vit). We all know how much getting even 1 good weapon will cost you... now think about doubling that cost.

The reason most people go with shield isn't necessarily because it makes surviving easier, but because it's just a much cheaper and more cost-effective build. The 15% IAS modifier just isn't worth it for the amount of gold you have to spend for a second weapon and on the gear you need to compensate for the loss of defensive stats on a shield.

while i agree with you, the people using a shield and super defensive builds are doing so because it gives them more room for error.
it's pretty obvious that you can beat the game with shit gear, but the more defensive gear you have the bigger margin for mistakes you are allowed.

Not only that, shield using is one of the only ways for undergeared monks to get anywhere in Inferno.

Act2 im pretty much stuck and i have fairly good stats. It's champ packs, they steamroll the heck outta me.

Overgearing lets you do any real setup you want, but most average players are not very well off money-wise in game.
I have spent nearing 5mil on my monk, still badly undergeared apparantly.

Ive never had trouble in act II only time I die is when I'm ignoring everything for a treasure goblin

People say barbs are the most expensive to gear but I say fuck that it's monks

Barbs are way more expensive. Monks have it much easier because of One With Everything, making it incredibly easy for us to reach higher resists. The only thing that sucks is that we have to compete with DHs for some gear pieces.

I killed Diablo with maybe ~15m worth of gear on my monk. I doubt any barb could do the same.
