i mention vsync because it's kind of already an artificial frame limit, and 30 is the next lowest number for vsync with my monitor, so that's probably what I'd go to next. However, I have to say, I've never heard of GPU load affecting network connectivity. They're completely unrelated system components. This is why i reacted that way when you mentioned fps limiting. I could see if your computer totally locked up you might have network issues with streaming traffic, but if there was a direct correlation, we'd see game drops and lagging out every time we had massive fps drop. I personally never seem to have issues when my performance drops. My processor is hardly hit by this game, so it's not that, either. I'd say this is a coding problem that stems from how the game deals with dropped or lost packets, not something to do with system performance. That's just my opinion of course. It seems to me that if you're noticing less occurances, attributing it to fps limiting is kind of a non sequitur, and there could be any number of reasons. It's really kind of odd, since traditional lag in this game is just a freeze and then catch up, like any other mmo or streaming kind of game. But this rubber banding thing is different - the game doesn't freeze or stop receiving server side info about where the monsters or your companion are, etc. It just teleports you back a few steps, like a hiccup, but without the lag freeze. I really have no idea what causes it, but it doesn't appear to be system component related.
imo its the processing issue that causes the lost or dropped packets. people experience it more around monsters, where the game has more packets to process. people experience it more tempest rushing, it seems, where the graphics are changing much more quickly as you move along.
a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, every system componet is related, as only one is needed to cause a bottle neck.
take notice if you experience processing issues prior to the rubberbanding, where the rubberbanding is the result of catching up.
