Found out that... not running a mantra actually opens up a lot of options in skill builds. Awesome.

Generally they have huge benefits though

Also like your axe swap for regen, is it possible to do like a 14k health globe swap + potion, then swap back?

Yea, no mantra vs barbs imo. Palm is too important for negating the liferegen and cant really replace sss, fot, bell, blind or sere with it either..

Oh, it was for versus others classes. I need overawe on barbs for sure.

48% dmg boost can't be replaced imo.

I really feel like life regen on barbs isn't too bad. 90% of the time when I get the kill versus barb, they are stunned by blind or sss OR stunlocked against the wall with FoT and Bell.

And when you do high enough dmg, they run to regen. Just chase them. With fleet footed and shift click FoT, it's not too hard to chase for most of the cases.

And if you don't think you can catch them, let them go. lol you regen life and spirit back to full too and start over. haha



But, yeah I used water/earth ally against instead of mantra versus various monks and wds last night. It worked very nice.

And Shawn, I personally don't like swapping armors much during the fight. I normally have sky splitter on mainhand when I fight barbs. If not, AZ.

And how do you guys like the flying kick rune on Dashing? I've always used quicksilver but was just wondering how the other rune on it is. Saw couple monks running that kick.

just get some bonus mods on couple slots. it's a huge difference.

I know but sometimes there isn't enough random mods to gain regen or potion buff without losing a decent amount

Lose some ehp/dmg if you have to and get some potion bonus. Trust me on this.

Sustainability in fights skyrockets.

yea but that 48% is just for 3 sec and because you are most likely using skorn vs barbs, that 3 sec is about the duration in which you hit 4 wols. and because palm gives 12% more dmg for 9 sec and in practice if you pop blind + sss, thats about 6 sec of hitting the barb before you should back off. overawe being 48% for 3 sec and 24 for the other 3 sec, thats 36% dmg over 6 sec on average. in that 6 sec barb will regen around 24k life, which palm would negate(non crit wouldnt be that much, but crit would be more, so on average its about the same as regen is), but palm would also negate extra 9 sec after that 6 sec, thats 15 sec of no regen, which is 60k life for the barb. if you compare that 36% for 6 sec to palm, that would be 24% more from overawe than from palm.

so basically you are trading 24% for 6 sec from overawe(on average dmg of 1.5 wols) to 60k life more on barb. if that 24% extra wont allow you to kill the barb during the time he is stunned, doing 60k more dmg is better, that would mean that palm > overawe, except if you kill the barb during sss stun and blind time, which i highly doubt. also if you are able to catch the barb before the second palm ends, you will take 36k life off the barb from negating his regen, at this time your serenity and blind are off cool down, so you can attack him again. without palm, the barb would had been already at almost full life at this point.

you really should give it a try and then decide which setup is more suitable for your monk and more suitable against your opponent
