What happen if I don't?

I was thinking of going "Resolve" over transcendence. The rest of the passive is "Seize the Initiative" and "One With Everything".

Skills:
Deadly Reach - Keen Eye's
Mantra Evasion + armor
Heal w/ either rune that scares mobs or increase 15% damage -> help to pick
Serenity - Peaceful Responses
Mystic Ally - Earth for life increase
Blinding Flash - 60% miss or 30% damage increase -> help to pick

If you have decent life on hit, to me Transcendence isn't worth it anymore. I use Resolve/Seize/OneWithEverything and I like it a lot.

-You should try out FoT - Thunderclap and compare to Deadly Reach. Keen Eye gives a lot of armor, but Thunderclap heals more from life on hit, and the knockback is really really good.

-Evasion with Hard Target is solid, if you are easily farming an act you can switch rune to Backlash for some nice extra damage.

-Heal - I prefer increased damage, but the fear can be nice as an extra cc.

-Serenity - Heal is good, but I like the extra duration since with life on hit I can heal back up my hp anyway and have extra time for positioning/DPSing.

-I use Sweeping Wind with Blade Storm since it deals crazy damage, but Ally can be nice to soak some hits.

-Blinding Flash - I use duration increase, to me it's like another serenity. Echo is also good, haven't tried the damage but it's probably nice burst, miss chance is decent as well

Most of it is personal preference. If you need more damage, change to more damage. If you want more survivability/cc, change to that. Just try out different combinations and see which one feels best or makes your life easier.

try mantra of evasion with hardened , two hand, deadly reach with increased armor

= 60% dodge, massive armor, higher attack speed
and without life per hit you are fastfood

[...]

also deadly reach has same range as blizzard cast range..you can imagine that you survive longer..especially against
elite fire mobs. heal with fear rune is good when elite sourround you (vortex + illusionist) and you should survive

two hand? what skill/rune are you referring too?

heal w/fear? over +dmg/30sec?

This is what I have found to be pretty effective so far.

Sieze/Resolve/everything

Crip wave - concussion
heal - with attack
serenity - heal
sweep wind - blade
conviction - damage
flash - duration

I have the enemy hitting 45% less than normal with concussion and resolve, and with sieze you should have a lot of defense you should be able to tank for long enough to alternate between your two healing skills and a potion.
After your to a point where you can tank I went for all out attack with blade storm and conviction, and flash is just amazing.
Once I have everything casted fighting a mob i am casting conviction every 3 seconds to get that extra boost.
You'll sometimes find a vampire that heals faster than you hurt him so switch crip wave to a stonger rune or a different skill set with a higher dps.
But I get the farthest without dying with this skill set.

probably means passive skill that gives you 15% dodge bonus from dual-wielding

---------

question to the OP and everyone else -- what's your recommendation for getting through Act 2? I've done some searching around and most people seem to use a very defensive build to get through the act (then switch to offensive build for Belial)

right now, I'm going full tanky-build (1h+shield, deadly reach + keen eye, earth ally, heal bubble flash, evasion mantra) for it, and still having a lot of difficulty surviving even encounters with white mobs. was wondering if anybody has had luck getting through A2 with a more offensive LpH build.

@orangetomato

Thanks, but I cannot afford a 1000+ damage 100+DEX LIFE PER HIT weapon 1.62+ ias

is a 700 + range weapon good enough to kill off inferno mobs?

Just a quick question.

Sweeping wind or conviction aura with submission would both apply Resolve right?

I need a more consistent method to apply resolve rather then from melee, since the most dangerous things are champs and uniques rather then trash mobs, and you are often unable to apply resolve via melee to them every 2.5 sec to keep the 25% dmg debuff up.

I'd want to use either conviction subsmission or sweeping wind if I have resolve to take care of that scenario.

Also for hardcore (HC only here), near death experience (NDE) just seems amazingly good, it's basically 35% life. Looking at a late game standard 3 pick of: One with, initiative, resolve I swapped out One with simply because I had mostly +res all gear, and the highest res could only pull the lowest up by +11% absorption, and 35% life > 11% absorption. Of course if you're SC it doesn't really matter I suppose.

so you use inner sanctuary in place of Breath of Heaven? presumably with the damage reduction rune, right?

You can get rings with attack speed + life on hit pretty cheap and probably an ammy with life on hit too.
Just use a high dps weapon with good attack speed (like monk fist) and a socket and put the highest amethyst you can make into it.

no, i use breath of heaven aswell, with 15% rune.
inner sanctuary can be used to block doors and stairs also, and with deadly reach you can stand behind it and stil hit them.
i stand in it to prevent getting molten, poison pools and crap like that on me.
on sanct i use the rune to gain heal, but was thinking of changing to longer duration.
+ it fears away mobs when you use it, great if you get blocked by a crowd of minions.
