Funny you mention the pvp style lol, thats one of the main reasons I like it... Far better then wow's imo, but that is my opinion and yours is yours. It's obviouse we disagree...
There are 7diffrent classes and over 4-5builds for each class each class and builld using diffrent gear, or you can make a simple build with mass used gear and just hang out with freinds... Diablo doesn't have to be a time consuming game like wow, if you want you can spend 10k fg and be a god or you can make one of the cookie cutter cheap builds and just hang out with freinds dueling or pvm...
Some people argue diablo expansion is boring because everyone has the same gear, not true... only noobs use the same gear, pro's use rares and crafted items.
As for comparing classic games to modern, I think you have it the wrong way.... You can't beat the classics man, I'm 17 and I still know mario>all games. Yes it may get boring and I may play other games but mario is still the best.
Edit: having hackers and being full of hackers is diffrent... Public duels are no where near as bad as they were in .11. All games have hackers. Yes you could argue that diablo is a bad game because some people hack, but you could also argue that wow is a bad game because the monthly cost... Each game has its own croud, thats why I said "imo";).
You assume wow has to be a time consuming game, it really doesn't. You can spend maybe 4hours a week and still high the best possible pvp gear in the game. I'm not even exaggerating either.
Problem with d2, there is absolutely no incentive to pvp. What do you gain from it? Nothing?
Ok, so you have boring pvp, very limited amount of players per game, terrible idea with running back to your corpse naked. Whoever thought up the absorb idea should be shot.
The charm idea is fucking stupid. At least make it a seperate inventory for charms rather than preventing you from looting anything.
It's also pretty boring to play the game all over again just to build a second spec of the SAME CLASS.
To top this all off, there's nothing to do in the game.
